Opening of the Quest One Gigahub
Quest One (formerly H-TEC SYSTEMS) has opened its new “Gigahub” in Hamburg in the presence of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher. The specialist for electrolysis systems for hydrogen production is starting serial and automated production of PEM electrolysis stacks for sustainable energy generation at the new site for the first time. The MAN Energy Solutions subsidiary is also researching new, high-performance stack generations there. The new production and development site thus plays a central role in achieving the company's goal of avoiding one percent of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through the use of electrolyzers produced in-house.
The symbolic press of a button opens the
new gigahub in Hamburg
On 30 September 2024, Quest One celebrated the official opening of the new Gigahub Hamburg. In the presence of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and numerous guests of honor, the ultra-modern centre was symbolically opened by pressing a button. The next generation gave the starting signal for a new era at the Hamburg site.

Quest One opened the state-of-the-art Gigahub in the heart of the Victoriapark business park in Hamburg on September 30, 2024. Construction of the site, which began in April 2023 and covers a total area of over 26,000 m², was developed in collaboration with renowned partners such as the Jebens Group and Garbe Industrial Real Estate. The Gigahub combines production facilities, test facilities and offices on an area of 12,221 m² and sets new standards in terms of sustainability and innovation.
The environmentally friendly construction method is aiming for certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The sustainable features include intelligent building automation, green roofs with a 2 MW photovoltaic system and the recovery of heat from production. The site also promotes barrier-free working and offers modern workplaces designed to meet the needs of up to 430 employees.
The Gigahub will become the central production site for PEM electrolysis stacks with a capacity of over five gigawatts per year. The highly automated production lines, “Titan” and “Gerd”, named after moons of Saturn, use innovative technologies to reduce production times by up to 75 percent. Up to 50 test stands can be operated in the in-house test facility, supported by hydrogen production of up to one ton per day.
With modern workspaces, a roof terrace, gym and family-friendly facilities, the Gigahub not only offers innovative technologies, but also a working environment that promotes dialog and employee well-being.
