Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through hydrogen technology

Quest One is a global leader in the field of PEM electrolysis. The company develops and produces innovative electrolyzers and electrolysis stacks for the economical, efficient and reliable production of green hydrogen. Quest One's declared goal is to make a significant contribution to the fight against climate change with its own products. The company's mission is to avoid one percent of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through the use of its electrolyzers.

Founded in 1997 under the name H-TEC Hydrogen Energy Systems as a scientific project, Quest One has been a subsidiary of Everllence since 2021. The company combines decades of experience in the field of electrolysis technology with the extensive know-how of its shareholders in the realization of large-scale projects and in heavy industry.

Quest One employs over 400 people at three locations: production and development of the electrolysis stacks are based in Hamburg, Germany, while the electrolyzers are produced at a site in Augsburg, Germany. The company has another location in the U.S. near Houston, Texas.

We are a technology leader with a strong core

With more than 25 years of experience in PEM electrolysis, we have a strong technological core and expertise in the field of green hydrogen production. Secured funding of 500 million euros in 2022 has enabled the industrialization and serial production of our technology.

We realize series production

We leverage the expertise and know-how of the automotive industry for automated series production of our PEM stacks.  Our state-of-the-art Gigahub in Hamburg for the production and development of of PEM stacks opened in 2024. Construction of the automated factory is part of the PEP.IN research project and includes funding by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) via the H₂Giga lead project for hydrogen generation.

We benefit from the competence of our parent company

Around the world people place their trust in the know-how of heavy industry. And we too draw on the expertise of Everllence in the areas of plant EPC, industrial compressors, and reactors. Projects designed for the generation of green hydrogen benefit from many years of experience in the implementation of large-scale projects, along with the global sales and customer service network.

Sustainability at Quest One – Our commitment to the future

Quest One develops and manufactures cutting-edge hydrogen electrolyzers – paving the way for a sustainable energy future. Our mission: Establish hydrogen as a key energy carrier worldwide and actively drive the energy transition.

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We rely on eco-friendly, efficient technologies and continuously optimize our processes to conserve resources, reduce emissions, and minimize environmental impact. From development to production, we adhere to the highest environmental standards.

Our commitment goes beyond our products: Our Augsburg site is ÖKOPROFIT-certified, meeting strict environmental requirements. Through targeted measures, we save raw materials, water, and energy, minimize waste, and cut emissions – for a cleaner, greener future.

Our Mission: Working together to combat climate change
Our goal is to make a significant contribution to the fight against climate change. By 2050, we aim to help reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by one percent—through the production of green hydrogen with our innovative electrolyzers. This one percent represents our ambitious commitment to driving real change while also symbolizing hydrogen, the first and most essential element in the universe.

A Milestone: The Opening of the Gigahub
With our new Gigahub in Hamburg, we are reaching an important milestone on our quest. Starting in September, we are manufacturing our state-of-the-art electrolyzer stacks in series production here. Together with our partners Everllence and Volkswagen, we are setting new industry standards and advancing the hydrogen economy.
